PORTAL SCENE
Web Development // January 2025
This was a site I had built using Vite, Three.js, GLSL shaders, and Blender, and it represented a significant hurdle in my progression through
Bruno Simon's "Three.js Journey" course. In the original lesson, the portal scene was a lot more simplified and fantasy-like, so I decided to
deviate from that image with something more machine-like in appearance. However, the basis of applied knowledge is the same. One thing I wish I
had done differently here is add some motion, either by exporting animations through Blender or animating them directly using code. But, apart from that,
I really like how the atmosphere and colors of the scene turned out.
ORGANISM
Animation // December 2024
This work was part of a larger body of works made during my last year of university. It, in essence, was intended to depict
a microscopic sample of the blood of a creature within my own fictional world, entitled "The Oneiric Afterlife." At that time,
I had quite a fascination with sea creatures of all kinds, and so the biology of the inhabitants of this world of mine naturally became
an area of prime concern. The idea of a microscopic being that is, in and of itself, capable of observing the outer world, guided
this work, and was further depicted in the way an eye seems to appear momentarily, before protuding back into the main body, which is more fluid-like
than anything else.
KALEIDOS
Animation // December 2024
This work was part of a larger body of works made during my last year of university. In another work of mine entitled "The Oneiric Afterlife,"
which at the time had been a worldbuilding project, I had created these fictional beings that served as mediators of various aspects of the world.
Rather than wanting to depict these beings conventionally, in some humanoid form or other, however, I instead decided to depict them as kaleidoscopes. I feel this decision
made them feel much more elusive, and effectively placed them outside of the realm of any normal being's comprehension, almost in a Lovecraftian sense.
THE ONEIRIC AFTERLIFE
Publication // December 2024
This work was part of a larger body of works made during my last year of university, and effectively serves as the centerpiece of said body. For this project, I was required to document
my process and turn it into a publication of any form. Said process could include reference/inspiration images, research, sketches, artefacts that never made the final cut, and so on. Rather
than creating a conventional chronology of my process, however, I decided to instead reframe it into a larger anthology of stories. These stories, as well as my process as a whole, were largely concerned
with depicting my own dreams at the time. These stories were accompanied by the inspiration images I collected throughout the process, and were matched to fit with
some major motif or piece of imagery within them.
I AM ANOTHER
Publication // April 2024
The goal of this project was to find some kind of archive or collection, whether of any kind of digital or physical media, and to then translate it
into a fully-fledged publication, complete with some manner of underlying taxonomical approach to organizing the archive and any other elements that may serve
the intended outcome. In my case, I chose a significant portion of a large collection of just over a thousand cartoon drawings by author William Steig. So as to provide my own personal
spin on the collection, however, I first randomly orderered them into individual groups of ten drawings each. Then, for each group, I essentially created stories
from the disjointed and often seemingly unrelated drawings.
REVERIE EYE
Short Film // December 2022
This was one of the first major video and/or photography based projects that I had done in university, and it enabled me to be
very hands-on during the process of its creation. In essence, the goal of the project was to choose any object, ideally one that
carries some personal meaning or relevance, and photograph it such that said meaning could be given form through both motion and time.
For my object, I chose a little glass ball that could refract, distort, and magnify whatever is being viewed through it. It did not initially
have any meaning to it for me, as I picked it purely to figure out its capabilities. Thus, this project naturally became a very experimental one, and
I played around a lot with lights and textures. In a sense, the final outcome became less about the ball, and more about the act of getting deeper into
a world unlike our own.
